When I start each day,
At school or at work or at play;
In my solitude, in my poverty
And in my days of plenitude;
When I go to rest or dream of the very best
And in my unceasing quest,
Stay with me, Lord.
When I read or write,
Speak softly or listen quietly;
When I laugh at my folly
Or mourn for the seeds I have sown;
When I'm sad and depressed
And my feelings I'm unable to express,
Stay with me, Lord.
In my delight or in my plight
And in my struggle to survive;
In failure or in success
In all my joys and temporary regrets;
When I'm put to the test anew
Stay with me, Lord.
And let me cling to you.
Have confidence in Divine Providence
